Helmet Rules

It was requested of us to look into the ACA helmet rule for non FIS races. After internal discussion and discussion with the CSA with respect to insurance, we must inform you that ACA’s stance on this is that helmet use for all non FIS events must conform with FIS standards.

FIS RULE:
New & Addition: Art. 707, 807, 907, 1007 - Crash helmets All competitors and forerunners are obliged to wear a crash helmet that conforms to the competition equipment specification.
Helmets used in FIS Snowsports shall be specifically designed and manufactured for the respective discipline and shall bear a CE mark and conform to recognized and appropriate standards such as CEEH. Din 1077 or US 2040, ASTM F2040, SNELL S98 or RS98, etc.

Please check your son/daughters helmet for these codes. IF you can not find it on the helmets check on line with the helmet dealer or contact your local ski shop. Most helmets I have examined are okay. It will be rare to not have the proper certification.

We are also looking into rules and recommendations on Chin Guards for Slalom and "Boil/Bite" mouth guards for training and racing.

Have a great weekend at Crabbe while we are at Mount Sainte Anne....66 trails open.....whoo hoo.

Farlagne Races

Notice to all parents/athletes and coaches:

Mount Farlagne race next weekend will most likely be our last race of the season. I have not heard yet from Poley about rescheduling the NB Cup races for Entry/K1 and feel that they may sanction the race at Farlagne for all: With that in mind I need to know who is planning attending the races prior to Tuesday Evening. Please email me your intentions as soon as possible so that I can send in the race list. The accomodations for this race are at the Chateau Edmondston, and parents should contact them directly to book a room. If parents are going up and they have room in their vehicles please let me know so I can find rides for athletes without them. Thanks

Because most racers will be attending this race all coaches will be attending this race. Therefore there will be no training at Crabbe Mountain next weekend.

The memorial race is scheduled for March 31st if weather permits.

Race Training Cancelled

Due to the inclement weather training has been cancelled. Sorry for the late notice but I had hoped that the rain would stop earlier last night.

Brookvale Cancelled

Dear New Brunswick Ski Teams, I am afraid I just received word from our Chief of Race, Mark Steele, that due to expected low numbers we will be canceling the 2007 Brookvale Invitational.
It seems that between Canada Games and March Breaks there are just too many other obligations for parents, coaches and athletes

Ariana is missing her Mars hoody she got in Edmunston. It was missing from the race shack the day of the pot luck and hasn’t been seen since. Her name is in red on the right inside. It is XXSmall. Someone must have it and they just don’t realize it. If everyone could check there houses, ski bags etc to see if you can find it we would greatly appreciate it.

Thought some people might be interested in how "Team NB" did on the rock. Looks as though Remi received three golds and one bronze, Sebastian received 2 silvers and Henrik pulled off a bronze in slalom. According to Tim the three guys managed to accrue 550 points toward winning the Altantic Cup - which was won by NFLD with a total of 620. They had a full team...wow great work gang.

Hello,
A friendly reminder to all racers (parents & coaches) to wear their season passes at all times while on the mountain. We have been cracking down on violations of all customers. We are going to make all racers walk to the lodge to get their passes from now to the end of the season.
Racers were recently caught training without their passes. This is a notice that it is your responsibility and if you miss training because of this issue do not complain....please put your passes on your helmets.

Repeat offenders will not be allowed back on the mountain the day of their second offense.
Please post this warning in the race hut and make sure all racers understand.

K2, J1 and J2

I hope everyone is pumped and excited for this weekend.

After the coaches meeting, which begins at 7:30pm, I would like to meet with all the athletes, probably around 8:30 or 9pm. Just before bedtime....

Have a safe drive up and I will see you all tonight.

Race Cancelled

Please be advised the Poley Mountain Race Club has been forced to cancel the race this
coming weekend due to weather conditions. NB Alpine is attempting to organize an
alternate NB location. We will forward full details as soon as information is
available.

I am also interested in finding out how many athletes would be interested in going to the Atlantic Cup at Marble Mountain. I would need to determine the number to find appropriate travel, accommodations and coaching arrangements. Please advise me on your interest for this race. The dates are as follows: February 8th-11th with optional speed camp Feb 5,6,7.

Training this weekend

There will still be training this weekend of some form: Due to the weather we are putting together a training schedule for Saturday that will include some dry land, ski tuning, video session and season goal setting and journaling. Training will begin for K1-J2 at 9:00 a.m. and for Entry at 10:00 a.m. Please note to bring ski equipment and rain gear as we may still ski if the hill is open and/or the weather not too bad. This trainng will happen whether the hill is open or not.

Any Questions don't hesitate to conatact me rien.meesters@nbed.nb.ca or 454-1203

Warm Ups for Sale

This short note is to mention that I have a pair of brand new, black, insulated SPYDER ski warm up pants for sale. They were intended for Phillip; however, although they are marked “large” they are too small for him. They do have the zippers along the sides making them easy to remove at the starting gate. If you are interested, let me know and you can try them on. Many thanks,

Mel
