Memorial Race a GO!!

Just a note to all that the Memorial race is on for tomorrow morning first thing. We are hoping to start by 9:30 to avoid slushy conditions. Grab those old race skis and downhill suits....wait maybe some of you should avoid the downhill suits :) and come on out for some great fun.

We will also be closing the shack up on Sunday so all skis etc must be out by Sunday afternoon as the power is going off for the season. I am hoping if it isn't raining to re-roll some of the fencing either Sunday or next weekend if we still are open for skiing. Please come out and lend a helping hand.

Another glorious late spring day is upon us in late March.....go grab some rays and enjoy the day.

Rien.

For the Techie in us all

Thanks to Darryl that found this awesome link. This one is for parents, racers, coaches etc that want to understand the how's and why's. It also has some great video footage along with it. It also starts to deal with concepts such as boot fitting, course inspection and variety of other technique oriented questions. Check it out for sure.

A big Success at Crabbe

To all Crabbe Mountain Ski Racers and Parents:

I am writing this on Monday morning while listening to the first run of GS from the Olympics. What a run from JF Bourque from a small place near Restigouche!

Many thanks to absolutely everyone for the work over the weekend to make the ski races happen. To say the least, we were challenged by the weather. Rain on Friday and bitter cold on Saturday and Sunday certainly took a lot of the fun away from it but I never heard an athlete complain. Our athletes shared the newly renovated race shack with other athletes from other clubs and it all worked out. We had help from other clubs to make it happen. Dan’s system of pairing gatekeepers was super, thanks Dan! We should remember their help when we visit other races; I know I will be gate keeping at Wentworth if they need me to.

Mandy made the front page of the local paper; I can’t ever remember seeing that happen. Hannah had a color picture in the sports section. Thanks to the Gleaner and Dave Smith who I am sure he had some influence in this happening.

I have to go to work but thanks again to everyone who helped in any role because every role is essential for a successful ski race!

Mel

Many Thanks from Rien

Many Thanks to all of you that emailed and gave support to me on Saturday at the race. I appreciate all your support and concern. I would also like to thank all the coaches and parents that stepped up to help while I was absent. I look forward to getting back on the skis and coaching at Wentworth next weekend for the Atlantic Cup.

Please email me your interest in attending this race, Friday,Saturday/Sunday. I need to get registration in on Tuesday night. Thanks again Rien

Have Fun everyone at Speed Camp this week. Enjoy the little bit of new snow that we received last night.

For all those of you not training at the speed camp but attending the SG Race on Friday you must attend the Thursday Speed Training. Please make sure you have signed up for the appropriate races SG, GS and/or Slalom. This information should have been in to Amanda this weekend but if you were not at the hill or missed the sheet please email me asap as race deadline is tomorrow at 7pm.

K1 Score at Wentworth

Congratulations to all our athletes that at the last minute travelled to Wentworth for the Giant Slalom and Slalom Races on Saturday. It was a jam packed day at Wentworth with 2 runs of each GS and SL on Saturday. Thank you to all the parents that travelled the long road to Wentworth for this race and getting the kids to the hill on time.

In the Medals:

K1 Boys Lincoln Esau with Silver Medals in both GS and Slalom.
Entry Girls: Medals by both Michele Levesque and also Mina Teague.

I would like to get these results into the radio/newspaper but I did not get a copy of the official results. If anyone has the standings for Michele and Mina please email them to me.....thanks.

Way to Go Team.

P.S. the military base is an interesting experience, great place for a team to stay!!
